Bertine Schieven

Bertine Schieven was born and raised on a dairy farm in Toldijk, in the Achterhoek region of the Netherlands. After studying Business Economics and majoring in Small Business Management and Marketing, she started working at the Chamber of Commerce. There and in her next position at the Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises she gained extensive knowledge and experience in the field of business and finance.

In 2007 she started working at Flynth advisors and accountants, as a business advisor in the areas of yield improvement, project financing and feasibility studies. Through Flynth she came in contact with Agriterra, one of its business partners. In 2011 she began working with Agriterra as an Agripooler and travelled to Uganda.

This was followed by three more advisory missions as an Agripooler, which were specifically aimed at assisting cooperatives in drafting business plans. Since June 1, 2015 she has worked for Agriterra as a Business Advisor for the East Africa programme. She is responsible for Uganda, the country where she began her career with Agriterra.

Bertine lives in Zutphen, along with her partner and two daughters. She enjoys having fun with her family, traveling, jogging and eating out. She is results-oriented, driven and enjoys working with other people to create and initiate things. Furthermore, she finds it particularly interesting to be able to advise organisations and cooperatives in a completely different country. Agriterra gives her the chance to bring together her agrarian roots and her passion for travel and other countries and cultures.
Her motto is: Enjoy life together with others.
