Byron Abadeza

Byron Abadeza is a Senior Cooperative Advisor on Lobby and Advocacy for Agriterra in the Philippines. He has over 22 years of experience in the development sector and studied Political Science at the University of the Philippines, Diliman.

Byron began his career in the academe, focusing on researching civil society movements and good governance. He also focused on participatory local governance, working to build the capacities of local civil society organizations and local governments to improve participation in local special bodies. He later joined an anti-corruption network of NGOs to bring more transparency and accountability in government through policy advocacy and good governance. Byron also coordinated a World Bank-funded project to establish better local government processes, including through social contracting (i.e. community-based procurement). He then joined several international organizations, gathering business intelligence for grant opportunities, writing project proposals, and training staff on proposal development. He's written project proposals for health, education, livelihoods, small public-private partnerships, agriculture and rural development.

Before joining Agriterra, Byron was a Global Proposal Development Manager for a UK-based development organization operating in 23 countries, writing grant proposals for projects in Asia and Africa. Byron is passionate about sharing his knowledge on proposal development with small organizations in the Philippines and volunteers his time to conduct training and learning sessions. He is a regular resource person for grant writing for organizations supporting persons with disabilities in the Philippines. His priority is his family, and he prefers to spend all his free time with his three kids and wife.
