Jonas Samuel Laryea

Jonas Samuel Laryea is a Business Advisor in team Agriterra Ghana. He is an Agribusiness expert and has diverse knowledge and experiences in research, agribusiness, cooperatives as well as using media for change in agricultural value chains. He holds a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Agriculture Technology from the University for Development Studies in Ghana with a major in Agronomy and a Masters Degree Management of Rural development from the University of Van Hall Larenstein, Netherlands.

After his Bachelor degree in 2011, Jonas worked as a Teaching Assistant with the University’s Agronomy department, assisting senior lecturers to lecture and conduct research work in agribusiness and agri-financing. The skill and knowledge gained during this period proved vital when in 2012 he joined a financial organization as an Agribusiness Manager that provided farmers with loan facilities to enhance production, purchase farm inputs and develop viable markets for their produce. He was able to help improve the financial livelihood of peasant and supported them improve their savings and records keeping. As an Agribusiness Manager Jonas supported in implementing livelihood development programmes with USAID, IFAD, IFDC, ADRA, FAO, Care International, MoFA as well as Microsave an international agribusiness consultancy firm for farmers in deprived arears within the Northern region of Ghana.

Prior to joining Agriterra in 2021, Jonas worked as a National Consultant and assisted in developing strategic business plans, conducting needs assessments and cooperative categorisation assignments for Agriterra clients. Having worked with both the private and public sectors in the line of agriculture development in Ghana for the past few years, Jonas is able to identify and develop solutions related to agrarian and rural transformation and development challenges. 

He is forward thinking and possess drive to learn and make an impact in the cooperative sector in Ghana.
