Meet the young farmers (3)

From 6 to 15 October Agriterra welcomes a group of 9 young farmers from 8 different countries. They are coming to The Netherlands for a study tour visit. Goal of the program is to strengthen and develop personal leadership of the (to be) leaders within the agrifood system.
Read here the stories from the last three participants of the studytour: Menuka Pradhan (23), Parshuram Karki (26) and Sindu Yoga (27). 

Menuka Pradhan (23), Nepal

The youngest participant of the Youth Leadership Masterclass is a lady who is a tea farmer, whose tea garden is situated in the hilly region of eastern region called Kanyam. As a youth council board member of Kanyam Tea Producer Cooperative Society Ltd. Menuka is responsible for the youth based program, providing new technical ideas and help in quality maintenance of made tea. She is looking forward to sharing experiences with other youngsters who are actively promoting youth inclusion in the agricultural sector.

 

Parshuram Karki (26), Nepal

Parshuram is working for Kamdhenu Dairy Development Cooperative Ltd. as a marketing manager since 2014. He is part of a dairy farming family who delivers their milk to KDDC and he has his own small paddy farm.

“Creating markets for dairy, empowering farmers and actively involving youth is my true passion and makes me feel I can contribute to the development of the agricultural sector in Nepal and beyond”.


Sindu Yoga (27), Indonesia

As a young cocoa farmer from Jembrana, a Balinese village, Sindu finds it important to interact with nature and work in a sustainable way. He is proud to be a farmer, because “it is an honorable thing to do for me. In fact, I am aiming to increase the quality of life for my fellow farmers and spread the word that farmers are entitled to live their dream”.
